INNER MEDICINE AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM

INNER MEDICINE AND COMMUNITY TRANSFORMATION PROGRAM is a 9 month program to support participants in accessing, cultivating and sharing their experiences of liberation using art, mindfulness and somatic tools.  The initiative for this school started in seeing the structural overlap of the challenges faced by immigrants, prisoners and oppressed people throughout the United States.  Research for the program curriculum began in 2023 and was supported through the Rockefeller Art for Justice program.  Through that initiative Ixchel Tonantzin Xochitlzihuatl developed a curriculum and pedagogy for liberation that will be prototyped through this inaugural program.  

Participants will have the opportunity to, over the course of 9 months, blend indigenous wisdom with cultural strategy, community organizing, somatics, mindfulness and visual arts to practice the experience of liberation and build models for their communities and loved ones.  The structure of 9 months is inspired by the Mayan calendar and the cycle of rebirth.  We will move through 10 full moons in this 9 month time.  During this time participants will be rebirthed as more liberated versions of themselves and also more liberated leaders.
